What is Uterine artery doppler?
It is an ultrasound in which blood flow to your womb is assessed.
Why is it done?
Correct blood flow to the womb is required for correct blood flow to the baby growing in it.
Studies have shown that uterine artery doppler in also helps in calculating the risk of the pregnant lady developing pre-ecclampsia(a condition in pregnancy in which blood pressure increases, with or without protein in urine).
If uterine artery flow is not normal, it has also been seen to affect the growth of developing baby.
Note :
At our centre, evaluation of uterine artery doppler is routinely included in NT/NB scan, Anomaly
Scan and colour doppler scan.
